To the Editor:
Last week’s letter to the Editor was nothing short of comical and rhetorical misinformation.
It reeked of systemic racism, ineffectively masked by some incoherent blathering about a Nation of Laws.
Are all those who are seeking asylum in the United States of America really “Rampant COVID infected Immigrants?” I think not.
I ponder how many US citizens have spread COVID due to their own refusal to wear masks and follow federal safety precautions. Are all of these migrants bringing drugs with them across the border? Absolutely not.
These human beings are crossing the border with nothing more than what they can carry, much less suitcases of narcotics! Perhaps some much needed research on your part should be done on the United States mishandling of the War on Drugs, which actually began in 1970’s. More laws/penalties have never shown to be effective in deterring drug use. However, educating our youth on these issues does, in fact, prove to be far more beneficial.
America is comprised of mostly all immigrants. We all add our own different ethnic and cultural diversity to our American society. Last time I checked, it was legal in America to practice any political affiliation or religious denomination without discrimination or prejudice. America is constantly changing and evolving, and cannot accurately be compared to the 1960’s or earlier for that matter.
As far as gun control is concerned nobody is coming for your shotguns, rifles, rocket launchers, hand grenades or weapons of mass destruction. I believe our educators do a great job to inform our youths on our a variety of related issues, not just local and federal government. Nobody is teaching your child to rid you of your firearms. Perhaps, they have been educated by statistics and facts alone, which have led them to view gun control separately from your own distorted viewpoint.
In conclusion, it is important to add that we the people, did vote and we were heard! I will leave you with this: “Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try.” -JFK
