BONNIE LEE HART
Bonnie Lee Hart, daughter of Robert and Yvonne (Hime) Darling, was born January 13, 1958, in Iowa City, IA.
Bonnie was united in marriage to Billy Lee Hart on December 31, 1977, in Cedar Rapids, IA. Bonnie worked at various businesses as a bartender and cashier. In 1998, Bonnie and Billy bought a farm northeast of Diagonal, IA where they would spend time. They moved to the farm about 5 ½ years ago and made it their home. Bonnie worked as a cashier at Smith Oil in Mount Ayr and did volunteer work at the Mount Ayr Neighborhood Center.
Bonnie was a collector of items and loved to buy stuff and was always buying things for her grandkids. Bonnie loved her family and spending time with them was very important. She took care of her family, she loved to cook for them and she loved spending time with her twin sister, Bobbie. Bonnie enjoyed saying, “don’t take any wooden nickels!”
Bonnie passed away unexpectedly at her home on October 24, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Nancy Darling.
Those who will cherish her memory include her husband, Billy Hart, of Diagonal; five children Michelle (Robert, III) Clark of Cedar Rapids, IA, Larry Messerschmitt of Cedar Rapids, IA, Hailey Hart, Jessica Hart and Christopher Hart, all of Springville, IA; seven grandchildren, Brittney Rupe, Anthony Clark, Nicolas Clark, Thomas Watsky, Alexa Messerschmitt, Kyana Messerschmitt, Rylann Braby-Long; four great grandchildren, James Clark, Isabella Clark, Cyrus Rupe, Rumour Rupe; five siblings, Bobbie Fetter of Cedar Rapids, IA, Pam McBride of Iowa City, IA, Pancy Ruggels of North Liberty, IA, Butch Darling of Oskaloosa, IA, Emery Darling of Cherokee, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Per her wishes, Bonnie has been cremated. April was Bonnie’s favorite time of year and a celebration of life is being planned for April of 2022.
Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr is in charge of the arrangements.
