New COVID cases over the past seven days have continued their steady increase, according to statistics compiled by the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH).
On Monday IDPH reported Ringgold County had recorded 15 new cases over the past seven days among those who had been tested.
IDPH reported these numbers of new cases for the six-county area:
IDPH reports Ringgold County continues to rank among the fewest number of positive cases statewide since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.
At 859 total positive cases, Ringgold County trails only Audubon County with 843 and Adams County with 635 positive results over that time.
In comparison, totals from surrounding counties include 2,182 in Union, 1,775 in Clarke, 1,127 in Decatur and 1,078 in Taylor.
In the battle to combat the spread of COVID, IDPH reports 2,412 residents aged 18 and over in Ringgold County have been fully immunized against the virus.
Unlike last week’s report, the number of new vaccine completions has jumped considerably in the six-county area:

Vaccine is available at the following locations:
• Mount Ayr Medical Clinic or Hy-Vee in Mount Ayr offer Moderna vaccine for 18 years and older.
• Medicap Pharmacy in Mount Ayr offers Pfizer pediatric for children ages 5 through 11 years of age for walk-in during business hours.
• Ringgold County Public Health offers Moderna or J&J vaccine for 18 years and older. Pfizer vaccine is available for children ages 5 through 17 years of age. Call for an appointment.
