Darlene Ellen Jackson, age 82, daughter of Earl Robert and Reva Helen (DeVault) Duff, was born June 26, 1939, in Union County, IA. She died at the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr, IA on Sunday, January 9, 2022.
On April 5, 1957, Darlene was united in marriage to Junior Melvin Jackson. They were blessed with five children: Earl, Junior, Ellen, Ronal and Kathi. She started working at O’Bryan Brothers in Leon, IA as a cutter for the sewing factory. She owned a grocery store for a few years while living in Ellston, IA. Later she went to work at Place’s (a dime store) in Mount Ayr, IA, where she worked in the fabric department. She made a variety of clothes that were displayed in the store. She also enjoyed making clothes for her family and friends. She worked at the Trolli Candy Factory in Creston, IA, was a cook for the Kellerton School in Kellerton, IA and worked in the kitchen at Mount Ayr Health Care Nursing Home in Mount Ayr, IA.
In her free time, she enjoyed doing crafts, reading Christian romance books, knitting, crocheting, making quilts and going on walks with her children and grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Earl and Reva Duff; husband, Junior M. Jackson; brothers, Robert, Leland and Carl Duff; and sister, Maxine Parsons Harvey. Survivors include her children, Earl Jackson of Creston, IA, Junior “J.C.” Jackson of Grand River, IA, Ellen Jackson of Colorado Springs, CO, Ronal Jackson and wife, Diana, of Grand River and Kathi Sickels and husband, Andrew, of Kellerton, IA; grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and many other friends.
Memorial service will be held at a later date. Final resting place will be Leon Cemetery in Leon, IA.
Arrangements were through the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, IA.
