ROBERT FLETCHER

Robert “Bobby” Fletcher passed away February 5, 2022, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born on April 25, 1978, to Charles and Roxie (Smith) Fletcher in Mount Ayr IA. The first of three children, he was later joined by Charlotte and Daniel. He was educated in Diagonal schools; his middle school and high school years were shared classes in Clearfield and Mount Ayr graduating as a member of the class of 1996.
While in school, he helped his dad at the hog confinement before and after school. While in school, he also enlisted in the Iowa National Guard with the unit out of Red Oak. He trained at Fort Leonard Wood, MO and Fort Sill, OK. After school he worked for TEK Builders in Mount Ayr for a short time before moving to Creston and attending SWCC’s automotive course. After leaving SWCC, he was employed at several places including the Farmers Coop and Godfather’s Pizza. He then moved to Des Moines for a short time before moving back to Diagonal. During his time at Godfather’s Pizza, he met and dated Kindrea Hartman; they later broke up but stayed friends. From this friendship came his daughter, Hanna Jo Hartman. Bobby spent some time working at the redemption center in Mount Ayr that his parents bought. Bobby dated Robin Lister for several years moving to Fontenelle for a time. He moved back to Diagonal, and they too remained friends after they broke up. Most recently he was seeing Jackie Hughes and living in Diagonal. In his spare time, he was an “Urban Junker” and collector of all things. He scrapped iron and whatever else he could. When iron prices took a dive, he got a job at Clearfield Manor as the maintenance worker where he worked until his passing. In his youth he played baseball on the Diagonal Little League team. He also enjoyed hunting and trapping for small animals. When he was a teen, he did what all kids from Diagonal did and cruised around town on weekends, hanging out with friends listening to heavy metal music. He enjoyed paint balling and trying to stay out of trouble, sometimes it worked sometimes it didn’t. He enjoyed hanging out at “the farm” where friends would gather and hang out having fun and making homemade music videos.
He is survived by his daughter, Hanna Hartman, of Creston; sister, Charlotte Fletcher, (Casey Barber) and nephew, Brenton Barber, of Creston; brother, Danny Fletcher, wife, Heather, of Pioneer, LA and niece’s, Baylee Fletcher of Pioneer, LA, Jezzi Wynn, Megan (Devin) Sawyer and Leo Heimke, all of Corning; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
