Claire Grace, 11-year-old 5th grader from Diagonal, recently won the state competition in the Elk’s Hoop Shoot held at Grinnell College. She will advance to the Regional Competition to be held in Iowa City on March 19.
Claire had to qualify through four rounds to win her trip to the Regionals. The first round was held at the school followed by the local and district rounds at Southwestern Community College in Creston and the state round at Grinnell.
To win state, Claire sank 19-of-25 free throws.
