The Mount Ayr Raider Track and Field team traveled to Ames on March 11 to participate in the IATC indoor track meet.
It was only a handful of runners that went for the Raiders, but they were able to see where they stood against plenty of area schools they will see this upcoming season.
In the 800 meter, Adan Trujillo set a time of 2:17.97 to place 15th overall.
In the distance medley, the Raider team of Austin Cole, Hunter Case, Adan Trujillo and Will Newton finished 14th with a time of 4:09.1.
The 4×400 team consisting of Adler Shay, Will Newton, Austin Cole and Ryce Reynolds, placed second to Earlham with a time of 3:35.44.
In the 60 yard dash, Austin Cole set a time of 8.01 to place 38th.
In the long jump, Hunter Case cleared 16-06.75 and placed 19th.
Evan Murphy threw a 35-04.5 to place 20th, while Colton Dredge placed 26th with a throw of 28-08.5.
In the 400 meter dash, Mount Ayr took first and second place with Ryce Reynolds and Adler Shay, respectively. Reynolds finished in a time of 51.15 and Shay in 53.93.
“It was great to get out and compete at a high caliber indoor meet,” said Coach Brad Elliott. “This was the first time on an indoor track for any Mount Ayr track squad since 2019, but our boys wasted no time in getting acclimated to the setting.”
The Raiders will head to the Hughes Center at Northwest Missouri State University this Saturday to compete.
