One last indoor meet for the Mount Ayr Track Squad was had before the real action begins next Tuesday, March 29.
The Raider and Raiderette squads traveled to Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO.
Raiderette Results
It was a good day for the Raiderettes, leading all teams before settling in at third out of 12 total.
Zoey Larsen took a first place finish in the shot put, throwing a 30-9.5 and Addy Reynolds took home a first place finish in the 400 with a time of 1:00.94 to round out the first place finishes for the Raiderettes.
Other results for the Raiderettes saw Breya Nickle seventh in the high jump, clearing 4-6, Paytem Lambert fourth in the long jump, leaping 14-08 and Jill Kniep third in the shot put with a throw of 29-09 to complete the field events.
On the track, three girls competed in the 60 meter with Addy Reynolds taking second with a time of 8.24, Aubree Clark 21st with a time of 9.25 and Hayden Ruggles 30th with a time of 9.73.
In the 200 meter dash, Reynolds took second with a time of 26.81, Lambert was fourth at 28.06 and Ashlyn Murphy was 11th with a time of 31.19.
In the 400 meter, Lambert was fifth with a 1:05.25 and Murphy saw 17th with a 1:11.39.
The 800 meter saw Karlie Larsen 16th with a time of 3:00.92 and Karly Elwood in 18th with a time of 3:10.42.
In relay action, the girls 4×200 finished with a time of 2:01.53 and consisted of Clark, Nickle, Ruggles and Madison Shields.
In the 4×400, the team of Lambert, Anne Newton, Kyliegh Conklin and Shields finished eighth with a time of 4:40.53.
The B team finished with a time of 4:50.93 and consisted of Clark, Nickle, Murphy and Karlie Larsen.
In the 4000 meter distance medley, a first ever event for the Mount Ayr girls, the team of Conklin, Newton, Elwood and Larsen set a school record with a time of 15:51.28, which slotted them in at sixth at the meet.
Raider Results
The Raider squad finished seventh out of 12.
The Raiders saw Adler Shay and Ryce Reynolds sweep the top two spots in the 800 meter with Shay in first with a time of 2:04.42 and Reynolds second with 2:04.55.
The Raider 4×400 team of Shay, Hunter Case, Austin Cole and Reynolds took the top of the podium in the 4×400 with a time of 3:35.00.
Other results for the Raiders saw Hunter Case 14th in the long jump, clearing 16-6.5.
Evan Murphy finished 10th in the shot put with a throw of 33-11.5, Tucker Knox was 12th with 32-05 and Colton Dredge finished 18th with a throw of 27-05.5 to close out the field events.
On the track, Preston Fleharty placed 11th in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.78, Cole finished 20th with a time of 7.96 and Murphy finished 24th with a time of 8.10.
In the 200 meter, Fleharty was 11th with a time of 25.4, Murphy was 14th with a time of 26.39 and Aidan Murphy was 25th with a time of 31.01.
In the 400 meter, Cole finished fourth with a 54.57 time, while Will Newton finished 8th with a time of 56.44. Rounding out the event was Garrett Walter with a time of 1:00.71.
The 800 saw Shay and Reynolds sweep the top two, while Adan Trujillo finished 12th with a time of 2:19.38.
In the 1600 meter run, Trujillo finished sixth with a time of 5:19.91, Garrett Walter finished 13th with a time of 5:45.36 and Will Newton was 16th with a time of 5:46.35.
“We had many outstanding performances today to open the season for both teams,” said coach Brad Elliott. “Our girls had never ran a college 4000 meter distance medley before so we were excited to give them an opportunity to be school record holders. These indoor meets will provide and advantage going into our outdoor season as young athletes gain experience and our seasoned athletes knock off the rust.”
The Raider and Raiderettes will be in full force March 29 at 4:30 p.m. in Earlham for the Earlham Early Bird track meet.
