HyVee customers who use their weekly ad insert to plan their shopping are being forced to go online or use a smartphone to get weekly specials starting next week.
According to a release from Universal Media, Hy-Vee’s advertising agency, the decision follows extensive discussion and examination of the changes in both the news and retail industries, and as competition increases and consumer habits evolve and drive them to meet new challenges.
A “digital first” strategy is integrated into a holistic approach to the customer journey.
The news comes as HyVee also laid off 121 employees at their corporate headquarters in West Des Moines.
Last year, the company made a change that every store did not have a store director, but store managers who answer to area directors.
