DANIEL MICHAEL REYNOLDS
Daniel Michael Reynolds passed away peacefully on May 18, 2022, at the Mount Ayr Health Care Center at 69 years, 7 months, and 22 days.
On September 26, 1952, Danny was born in Mount Ayr, IA, to Alberta (Smith/Blauer) and Manson Reynolds. Danny had five brothers, Dale, Doyle, Dickie, Dean and Darrell, and he also had two sisters, Marcene and Darlene.
Danny was raised in Tingley, IA until he moved to Glenwood during his teen years. Danny lived in Glenwood for 16 years, where here did janitorial work. Danny returned to Mount Ayr in September of 1987 when the Ringgold County Group Home opened. In the past, Danny worked for Ringgold County Challenge Center, Innovative Industries and he had spent the last 22 years at Ringgold County Supportive Services before retiring on March 25, 2022. Danny moved to his new vacation home at Mount Ayr Health Care Center on March 28, 2022.
Danny spent 35 years living, socializing and thriving in this small community. He never met a stranger, as he would ask everyone, he met what their name was. Then remember it, and call you by it the next time he saw you, even if it was years later. Sometimes he would ask you again, but he might have been checking to see if you remembered your name.
Some of Danny’s favorite things include lemon ice cream from the Dari Sweet, tenderloins or cheeseburgers and French fries with a diet coke, he also loved the Wizard of Oz, Batman and anything to do with space.
Danny had a big family, but when he moved into his home at the Ringgold County Group Home his family grew by several dozen people. Danny was blessed to have so many people love him and his goofy sense of humor.
Danny was preceded in death by his father, Manson, his mother, Alberta, three brothers, Dale, Doyle and Dickie, and two loving friends, Ralph Hampton and Joe Haley.
Danny is survived by his brothers, Dean (Penny) Reynolds and Darrell Reynolds, all of Somerville, TX and his sisters, Marcene (Dave) Allaway of Las Vegas, NV and Darlene Kelly of Afton, IA, 15 nieces and nephews as well as many, many great and great-great nieces and nephews, his special friend, Chanelle (Justin) Cole, and his Ringgold County Group Home and Ringgold County Supportive Services families.
The love and care Danny received while living in Mount Ayr, attending church services and engaging in local activities like the county fair and town events, will never be forgotten by his brothers and sisters and the gratitude they have for this community is beyond measure.
