Pearl Ruth (Sanderson) Grout was born March 26, 1928, in Lorimor, IA to Avery Roy and Lily Florence (Johnson) Sanderson, the fourth of six children. She passed away May 19, 2022 at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr, IA.
In 1936 the family moved to Shannon City and Pearl graduated from Shannon City High School in 1946. She married Howard James Henry on February 20, 1947 in Afton, IA. They were involved in farming, trucking and livestock sales. There were four children born to them: Linda Gaylene, Dennis Howard, Beverly Arlene and Katherine June. They were divorced in 1963.
Pearl was living in Mount Ayr, IA when she met Harold Z. Grout. They were married in Des Moines, IA July 12, 1969. They lived in Mount Ayr and Tingley, IA until 1985 when they moved to Monett, MO. They moved to Kansas City, KS in 1998 to live with their daughter until their health permitted them to move back to Tingley in 2004. Both were members of the Tingley United Methodist Church.
Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her parents; sisters, Florence Coppock, Yreva Davenport and Darlene Henry; one grandson, Matthew Kane Reasoner; in-laws, Russell Coppock, Hubert Davenport, Richard Henry, Lawrence “Tony” Driskill, Doris Grout, Charles Grout, Marvin Grout, Donald Grout, Jan Grout, Joann Grout and LaDonna Grout.
She is survived by her children, Linda Rinehart (Steve Carano) of Tucson, AZ, Dennis Henry (Dwanese Green) of Marana, AZ, Bev Auer (Mike) of Williamsburg, MO and Kathy Henry (Ron McDaniels) of Sheridan, MO, nine grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Leona Driskill of Afton, IA; brother, Avery Sanderson of Mount Ayr, IA; in-laws, Helen Grout of Mount Ayr, Dale (wife Jean) Grout of Riverside, CA, Kenneth Grout of Cedar Rapids, Ronald (wife Nancy) Grout of Des Moines, Robert Grout of Berwick, Ruth (husband Jon) Hoy of Urbandale, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 2 at the Tingley Cemetery with a reception following at the Tingley Community Building.
Memorials are to the Tingley Community Building and the Tingley United Methodist Church. Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr is in charge of the arrangements.
