Raiderettes suffer two losses before taking win over Wolverines

The Raiderettes had a tough week, dropping two before taking the win over the Nodaway Valley Wolverines on Friday.

The Southeast Warren Warhawks visited Mount Ayr where they put two runs up early before the Raiderettes tied things up late in a game that went into extra innings.
The Raiderettes held off the 17-2 team long enough to give them a shot at a win, however, the Warhawks added two runs in the top of the eighth to take home the win.
Addy Reynolds pitched all eight innings for the Raiderettes, allowing 11 hits, four runs and striking out two.
The Raiderettes played a perfect game behind the circle, committing no errors, while recording 24 putouts on 34 total chances and recording 10 assists.
The Raiderette bats recorded seven hits, two runs and saw two home runs, one by Reynolds and one by Zoey Larsen.
“We showed a lot of progress today, especially after Saturday and the debacle we got in there,” said coach Bret Ruggles. “I was very proud of this group, we hung in there and played great defense.”

The Raiderettes suffered another tough loss, this time to the Blue Devils last Thursday.
Martensdale-St. Marys set the tone in the first two innings, leading the Raiderettes 9-1 that was helped by a Jackie Klever homer.
The Raiderettes gave up two more in the third, before adding three of their own in the fifth, but ultimately, came up short.
The Raiderettes had a home run from Addy Reynolds who also recorded three RBI.
The Raiderettes recorded three hits on the night with Payten Lambert and Halsie Barnes recording the other two hits.
On the mound was Zoey Larsen who gave up seven runs on six hits, before Reynolds entered the game.
Reynolds allowed two runs on five hits and struck out two.
Behind the pitcher, the Raiderette defense committed only one error, while recording 18 putouts on 27 total chances and eight assists.

The Raiderettes were able to secure a victory to end the week on a high note after defeating a young Nodaway Valley Wolverine team Friday night.
With three runs put up in the first inning, the Raiderette bats got things rolling early, that included a home run from Zoey Larsen, while the defense played a perfect game, committing no errors.
The Raiderettes continued to chip away at the Wolverines, until putting the game away in the fifth, scoring five runs to shut the door.
In the circle, Addy Reynolds pitched all five innings, allowing only three hits, while striking out 11 batters.
Behind Reynolds, the defense recorded 15 putouts on 16 total chances with one assist.
The bats were led by Halsie Barnes and Zoey Larsen. Larsen with a home run and two RBI, while Barnes went three-for-three with two runs and an RBI.
“It feels amazing, Nodaway Valley and Mount Ayr have always been a rivalry and it’s always been a tough one,” said coach Ruggles. “Maddax DeVault has always been a thorn in our side for four years and I’m sure they are saying the same about Addy. We played well.”
