The Mount Ayr Cross Country teams officially started their seasons August 30 south of the border in Maryville, Missouri.
The Raiderettes produced 11 runners at the event held on Northwest Missouri State University’s campus.
As a team, the Raiderettes finished fourth overall with a total time of 2:08:18.89, averaging 24:36.1.
Anne Newton crossed the line first for Mount Ayr and 12th overall with a time of 24:08.97.
Makenna Jones crossed next for the Raiderettes and 15th overall, with a time of 24:44.31.
Karlie Larsen finished with a time of 26:07.65 and 21st overall.
Aubree Clark was 27th overall with a time of 26:38.21.
Natalie Schaefer and Lauren Triggs ran together and finished 30th and 31st with time of 26:39.75 and 26:41.26, respectively.
Karly Elwood finished in a time of 28:12.00 to finish 38th.
The Raiders with only two runners, could not post a team score, however, Braylon Greenwell finished 37th overall individually with a time of 22:52.53.
Ashtyn Benesh finished 52nd with a time of 25:44.36.
Wayne Falcons Invitational
The Mount Ayr harriers traveled to Corydon for the Wayne Falcon Invitational last Thursday, September 1.
The Raiderettes finished fourth overall with a time of 2:03:22.56 and averaged a time of 24:40.52.
Albia was first with a total time of 1:47:43.64.
Martensdale-St. Marys was second overall followed by Central Decatur. Wayne was fifth followed by Knoxville and Pleasantville.
Invdividually, the Raiderettes were led by Anne Newton who ran a 23:54.76 to finish 22nd overall.
Makenna Jones finished 26th with a time of 24:13.8.
Karlie Larsen was 28th overall with a time of 24:36.53, followed by her freshman sister Kacie Larsen in 29th with a time of 25:15.88.
Karly Elwood took 32nd with a time of 25:21.59.
Aubree Clark finished 25 with a time of 25:44.62.
Natalie Schaefer and Ava England finished 27th and 28th with time of 25:52.39 and 25:55.35, respectively.
Ashlyn Byer finished with a time of 26:12.51 for 43rd.
Lauren Triggs finished 50th with a time of 26:49.65.
Lillie Fuller finished 79th with a time of 48:41.48.
The Raiders saw Ashtyn Benesh finish 48th overall with a time of 21:32.57, while Braylon Greenwell finished 73rd with a time of 23:29.53.
The runners ran at Central Decatur on Tuesday, September 6. Results will appear in next week’s edition of the Record-News.
