A crane lifts the first section of the shower house at Liberty Lake into place. A grand opening for the new structure will be held in Spring 2023.

The last section of the Liberty Lake Shower House gets installed.
Ringgold County Conservation has announced the placement of the Liberty Lake HuffCutt Shower House.
This is part of the Liberty Lake Development Project – Phase 3 (Campground, Shower House and Primitive Cabins).
This project has been a large-scale capital improvement project for the Ringgold County Conservation department to tackle, with the cost of the shower house project totaling $352,305.
This part of the Phase 3 project is substantially higher than our current operating budget of $135,525, making projects like this unattainable without grants and donations to make it possible.
The Conservation Department received a $100,000 Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant and the community stepped up to match it dollar for dollar. Private donations and fundraising helped complete the funding for the shower house along with contributions from the City of Mount Ayr, SWI REC, SWI REC Operation Round-Up Grant, South Central Iowa Community Foundation, Ringgold Conservation Foundation, ARPA and REAP.
With the shower house now on site at Liberty Lake, the west side of the lake will be under construction while we hook up utilities to the facility and pour a sidewalk around the building to complete the project.
Ringgold County Conservation is proud of this monumental moment in the history of their department and the benefits it will have to the communities of Ringgold County such as quality of life, tourism, economic impact and improved outdoor recreation opportunities.
A grand opening of the shower house and three primitive cabins is tentatively scheduled for the spring of 2023.
