Nodaway Valley 3,
Mount Ayr 0
Mount Ayr suffered its first loss of the season to conference rival Nodaway Valley.
The Wolverines entered the contest with a 1-7 record, while the Raiderettes were 3-0.
After three sets, the Wolverines took the 3-0 win, but not after earning it.
The Raiderettes fought hard but fell in all three, 25-21, 25-20 and 25-22.
“It’s a little disappointing to see our girls play like they did tonight,” said coach Kristen Graham. “Our body language, our attitudes, it was all negative.”
In the previous three games, coach Graham spoke highly of the serve success rate, unfortunately, it did not hold up against the Wolverines, succeeding on 54-of-63 for 85.7 percent, the lowest of the young season.
The Raiderettes also saw only 10 aces through three sets with Tabby Henle, Kaylie Shields and Hayden Ruggles each collecting three.
The Raiderettes struggled on kills as well, recording eight per set with 24 total, led by Linsie Barnes with six and Kacee Klommhaus with five.
Mount Ayr had 24 kills, 23 errors and 115 attempts for an efficiency of .009.
“The communication just wasn’t there,” said coach Graham. “I felt like we went backwards tonight. We need to leave the negativity on the floor and be focused mentally.”
