LUANN SUE JACKSON
LuAnn Sue Jackson, daughter of Herbert and Vivian Jackson was born July 15, 1961 at Mount Ayr, IA and passed away October 1, 2022 at Taylor House in Des Moines, IA.
Her growing years were spent on a farm outside Kellerton, IA and she received her high school diploma at Grand Valley Community School in 1979. In 1984, she received her Bachelor of Arts from Iowa State University with a major in Art.
She made her home in Mount Ayr, IA and worked for 36 years at the Mount Ayr Record News dedicating her life to her job of advertising designer. She was very proud of her work on the paper such as the yearly school year book as well as the Sun Valley Lake Views and News magazine. She won several awards for best ad design in various categories like agriculture, community events and financial. Her colleagues were like family to her.
LuAnn loved to cook and try out foods and we often got a photo of the finished product, which made us wish we were eating at her house that night. Reading books (paper books) was common and she shared those with us giving us a long reading list in the future to read. She also delighted in coordinating her colorful wardrobe with accenting jewelry. From her youth on the farm, she has always loved cats. The neighborhood cats, strays and all, could get a meal at her door.
LuAnn is preceded in death by her father and mother and a sister, Shirley Jackson.
Left to mourn her passing are four siblings, Nancy (Rick) Brechler, Dan (Hope) Jackson, Doug (Candi) Jackson and Julie (Andrew) Sonksen, 11 nieces and nephews and 20 great nieces and nephews.
There is open visitation at the Armstrong Funeral Home on Thursday, October 6 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday. Burial is in the Maple Row Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established in her name to be decided.
