Raiderettes fall to Lenox; bounce back to defeat Murray

The Raiderettes fell in conference play last September 27 to the Lenox Tigers.
Lenox came out strong in the first set, putting Mount Ayr down 25-14, but the second set looked to be in favor of Mount Ayr before the Tigers turned things around and went ahead 2-0 in the game with a 25-23 set win.
The Raiderettes were unable to get anything going in the third set as the Tigers won 25-13 to win all three sets.
The Tigers standout Sadie Cox gave the Mount Ayr defense fits as she recorded 13 kills on the night, working the net and putting the ball in the gaps left by Mount Ayr.
The Tigers also recorded 13 blocks on the night, led by Cox with six.
The Raiderettes had a decent night serving, successful on 44-of-52 serves with nine aces, led by Olivia Huntington who was 16-for-18 with three aces.
Mount Ayr only had 14 kills on the night, led by Kacee Klommhaus with five, while Kaylie Shields led the assists with 10.
The defense recorded four blocks, with Linsie Barnes responsible for three.

The Raiderettes played a tough Murray Mustang volleyball team Monday evening in a game that went four sets.
The Mustangs (5-9) fell early 25-13 to the Raiderettes (8-11), however, the Mustangs charged to a 25-23 victory in the second set.
The third looked to be a toss-up until the Raiderettes were able to overcome the mounting Mustang attack to win 25-23.
The fourth set of the night saw Mount Ayr take a commanding lead before putting the game away with a 25-13 win.
