Titled “A Candyland Christmas,” the annual Christmas in the Ayr celebration will take place Saturday, December 3.
The evening kicks off at 4 p.m. with “Sing Christmas,” a concert by Simply Voices at the United Methodist Church.
Entries for the lighted parade with line up at the Depot Museum at 5:30 p.m. with the parade around the square getting underway at 6 p.m.
Parade prizes include the Best of Show traveling trophy for the best business or organization entry. Individuals, families, and friends entries will earn $50 in Mount Ayr money.
Following the parade comes the lighting of the community Christmas tree on the south side of the square at the Skelly Station. Ringgold Outdoor Alliance is responsible for decorating the tree and organizing the lighting festivities.
Ryann’s Dance Academy will perform following the tree lighting.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will greet the kids in the lobby of the Ringgold County Courthouse. Visitors are invited to drop off a non-perishable food item in the big box located in the lobby.
The courthouse staff also invites the public to view their “Tour of Trees” located on all three floors of the courthouse.
The Mount Ayr Public Library will offer a good view of the parade as well as some goodies.
Several Mount Ayr businesses will stay open late for shopping, dining, and entertainment.
Music throughout the evening will be provided by Ringgold Outdoor Alliance.
