The Mount Ayr basketball season is eight games in and just had a couple of weeks for winter break.
Starting 2023, the Raiders and Raiderettes have 13 games to go on the schedule.
Up next for the Raiders and Raiderettes is the Bedford Bulldogs.
Mount Ayr will travel to Bedford on Friday, January 6 with varsity action starting at 6 p.m.
Through the first eight games, the Raiders boast a 7-1 record, making 53.3 percent of their shots, while shooting 33.9 percent from arc. From the free throw line, the Raiders are shooting 70.6 percent.
Altogether, the Raiders have scored 566 points on the season, led by Jaixen Frost who has scored 177 points and Braydon Pierson with 93.
Frost leads the team in multiple categories, including assists with 43 and rebounds with 48.
Riley Stark leads the Raiders in steals with 32.
Raiderette
Basketball
The Raiderettes hold a 7-2 record overall and have an offense led by both Tegan Streit and Breya Nickle who have 96 points each, out of a total of 502 points scored.
The Raiderettes are shooting 43.6 percent on the year, while hitting 30.8 percent of their threes and 60.5 percent of their free throws.
Leading the team in rebounds are Streit and Linsie Barnes, both with 71 total rebounds.
Streit leads Mount Ayr with 45 assists, while Nickle leads the team in steals with 25.
