Twyla Lynette Taylor Breckenridge entered the gates of heaven on December 27, 2022. Twyla was born October 14, 1947, to Wayne and Rowena (Eighme) Taylor of Diagonal, IA.
Twyla graduated from Diagonal High School. She was active in many musical activities and was the drum majorette for the marching band. Twyla was a talented musician and exceptional vocalist. She sang in the Taylor Trio with sister, Dixie, and cousin, Barb Taylor Gifford. Twyla loved children and wanted to hear the funny things the youngsters in the family said and did. She would then respond with a hearty laugh.
She was predeceased by her parents and brother-in-law, Ronald Capps.
She was married to Michael Breckenridge. They were later divorced. Her daughters survive her. They are Ashley (Jarrod) Sutton and Abby Breckenridge both of Des Moines, IA. She is also survived by grandson, Camdyn Sutton. Other survivors are sisters: Roma Jean Halsey of St. Joseph, MO; Dixie Linkey (Jim) of Kansas City, MO; Debbie Capps of Mount Ayr, IA; and Annie Jensen (Clark) of Grinnell, IA and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Routh family and the staff at Clearview and Every Step Hospice.
Donations may be made in her name to the United Church of Diagonal and Clearview Home. Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr was in charge of the arrangements.
Services were at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2022, at the United Church of Diagonal in Diagonal, IA
Officiating was Pastor Bill Armstrong.
Special songs were “In This Very Room”, “Softly & Tenderly”, Medley “In the Garden/Just A Closer Walk with Thee/What a Friend We Have in Jesus”.
Burial was at the Diagonal Cemetery in Diagonal, IA.
