Albany Quad
The Mount Ayr Raider wrestlers traveled south of the border last Thursday night to compete in the Albany Quad.
In the duals, Mount Ayr fell to South Harrison, 54-18, with the Raiders winning three matches on the night and forfeiting six matches.
Brock Shaha, ranked second in Iowa in Class 1A at 106 pounds, defended his undefeated record against Dawson Pelletier, defeating him by fall in 1:15.
Mount Ayr’s second win of the night came against Haiden Trammell, as Conlee Stark battled for a victory, getting the fall in 4:50.
Bracken Collier secured his win over Zander Doolittle by fall in 4:13.
Nathan Mederos fell to Kohen Trammell by fall in 2:46, Tegan Hill fell to Brendon Hoover by fall in 2:41 and Allen Jennings fell in 41 seconds to Mayson Edwards.
North
Mahaska Invite
The Raiders traveled to North Mahaska for the North Mahaksa Wrestling Invitational on Saturday, January 8.
The Raiders suited up six and saw Shaha land second in the tournament at 113 pounds, wrestling up from his usual 106 pounds.

Shaha suffered his first loss of the season in the first place match.
Before that, Shaha had defeated Evan Burg of Solon by fall in 5:51, before defeating North Tama’s Case Monat by decision.
The first place match saw Shaha defeated by a 6-0 decision against Dylan Heater of Grinnell.

At 120 pounds, Nathan Mederos (0-9) fell to Landon Davis of Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont in 1:48.
North Mahaksa’s Matt German defeating Mederos in the second consolation match by fall in 38 seconds.

Conlee Stark (10-11)competed at 132 pounds where he placed fifth overall.
Stark began his day with a win over Baxter’s Ruger Kincaid by fall in 3:50.
Grinnell’s Matthew Mintle defeated Stark by fall in 1:58 to put Stark into consolation rounds.
Stark was able to win out the day and place fifth, defeating Lynnville-Sully’s Kendric Johnson by fall in 2:50, Collin Sundby of Pella by fall in 4:52 and Hunter Wernli of North Mahaska by fall in 4:58.

Tegan Hill (4-5) had a tough outing falling in both of his matches by pin.
Hill was defeated by Solon’s Teague Williams by fall in 39 seconds before falling to Iowa City’s Obed Dominquez by fall in 1:52.

Bracken Collier (4-10) fell in his two matches of the tournament as well.
Collier was pinned in 1:30 by Chance Angle of North Mahaska and Andy Knockel, also of North Mahaska, by fall in 1:27.

Allen Jennings (0-12) fell in his two matches of the day, first by Blake Juhl of Pekin by fall in 23 seconds and Solon’s Oliver Owens by fall in 46 seconds.
This week marks the annual Ron Scott Duals in Mount Ayr held over two days, Friday, January 13 and Saturday, January 14.
