Creston JV Tournament
Mount Ayr traveled to Creston for a junior varsity tournament, getting some quality mat time for the young Raider wrestlers.
Tegan Hill wrestled at 142-144, falling to Creston’s Evan Abel in round by in 3:25.
Hill then fell in 4:40 to Bedford’s Kase Coleman before falling to Conner Williams of Clarke by fall in 1:03.
Nathan Mederos wrestled in the 114-121 pound class.
Mederos was pinned in his three rounds, first by Logan Stone of Creston in 5:29.
In round two, Mederos fell in 1:28 to Daniel Bonilla of Urbandale and lastly to Brenden Deist of Indianola in 1:18.
Conlee Stark in the 133-138 class, won rounds one and two before falling in round three.
In round one, Stark defeated Winterset’s Baiel Zhenishev by fall in 53 seconds.
Round two saw Stark defeat RJ Henderson of Indianola by fall in 57 seconds.
Jackson Pettegrew of Creston spoiled the day for Sark, defeating him by fall in 4:38.
Bracken Collier had an undefeated day, defeating Thomas Spargo of Indianola by a 6-3 decision before defeating Tyson Looney of Creston by fall in 39 seconds.
His final match of the day came against Urbandale’s Adrian Leon-Tello, pinning him 3:37.
Allen Jennings had a rough outing, getting pinned three times.
Jennings fell to John Hoover of Indianola by fall in 1:04. Emil Buhl of Panorma defeated Jennings by fall in 1:25 and Jackson Kerr of Creston won by fall in 1:27.
Mount Ayr Quad
The Mount Ayr Raiders held a wrestling quad last January 10 with Southeast Warren-Melcher Dalls, Lenox and Audobon attending.
The Raiders went 1-2 in the meet, defeating Audobon 24-18, while falling to Lenox 39-6 and SEW/MD 66-6 in dual results.
Audubon
Against Audobon, the Raiders wrestled three matches, winning two-of-three, while seeing seven double forfeits and winning two forfeits, while forfeiting two themselves, due to open weights.
At 160 pounds, Bracken Collier defeating Carson Perdew by fall in 1:30.
Conlee Stark, at 138 pounds, defeating Colin Hartl by fall in 1:40.
Tegan Hill suffered a loss to Clay Perry by fall in 18 seconds.
Lenox
Against the Lenox Tigers, the Raiders wrestled three matches.
There were six double forfeits, while Lenox forfeited one weight and Mount Ayr forfeited four open weights.
Allen Jennings, at 182 pounds, fell in 1:18 to Jordan Martin-England.
Conlee Stark lost due to major decision (9-0) against Dylan Stein at 132 pounds.
Bracken Collier received a technical fall after 2:35 against Trenton Beck at 160 pounds.
SEW-MD
Against Southeast Warren-Melcher Dallas, there were only two double forfeits on open weights, while Mount Ayr forfeited eight matches and Southeast Warren forfeited one.
At 182 pounds, Allen Jennings lost by fall in 20 seconds to Logan Montgomery.
At 132 pounds, Conlee Stark fell to Colton Halterman in 1:35.
Bracken Collier fell in 5:02 to Jarett Davison at 160 pounds.
Ron Scott Duals
It was a busy weekend for the Raiders as they hosted the Ron Scott Memorial Duals across Friday and Saturday.
A total of nine teams participated in the duals, including Mount Ayr, over nine rounds.
Rounds one through four were held on Friday, while rounds five through nine went on Saturday, in front of a healthy sized crowd of wrestling fans.
Attending the duals was Durant, Cameron, Central Decatur, East Union, Harlan, Martensdale-St. Marys, Shenandoah and Southwest Valley.
At the conclusion of the meet, the Ron Scott Wrestler of Character award was presented to Mount Ayr’s Brock Shaha.
Shaha was also named to the All-Tournament team.
Durant
Against Durant, the Raiders lost the team dual 51-12.
There were three double forfeits, while the Raiders forfeited five weights and Durant one.
Nathan Mederos kicked things off for Mount Ayr, wrestling Joshua Peel.
Mederos fell in 1:02.
Conlee Stark wrestled Trey Ramer at 132 pounds and lost in a 7-2 decision.
Tegan Hill put up a fight against Gus Thoma at 138 pounds, falling in 4:56.
Bracken Collier saw Kadyn Kraklio at 160 pounds and fell in 17 seconds.
Brock Shaha, at 106 pounds, defeating Aiden Alderman in two minutes.
Cameron
The Raiders fell to Cameron in the duals 73-6.
There were no double forfeits as Cameron fielded a team that saw two wrestlers per weight.
The Raiders had to forfeit eight open weights.
Bracken Collier began the match at 160 pounds, losing to Kyler Axelson by a close 5-3 decision.
At 182 pounds, Allen Jennings had a tough outing falling in 24 seconds.
Brock Shaha earned the Raiders only victory against the team from Missouri, defeating Will Erickson at 106 pounds in 1:11, by fall.
Nathan Mederos at 120 pounds fell to River Meadows by fall in 24 seconds.
William Brewer at 132 pounds defeated Mount Ayr’s Conlee Stark by major decision 17-7.
Tegan Hill fell to Jakob Gray in 2:29 at 138 pounds.
Central Decatur
The Central Decatur Cardinals defeated the Raiders in dual score 36-12.
There were six double forfeits in the match, while the Raiders forfeited two weights and Central Decatur forfeited one.
Starting at 182 pounds, Allen Jennniings fell in 1:01 to Cutter Frisbie.
Brock Shaha defeated Kacyn Watson by fall in 1:51 at 106 pounds.
Nathan Mederos at 126 pounds fell to Cooper Horton by fall in 31 seconds.
Conlee Stark fell in 1:53 to Cord Hamilton by fall at 132 pounds.
Tegan Hill fell in 3:37 to Cody Morgan in the 138 pound class.
East Union
East Union defeated the Raiders 42-24 in dual scores.
There were three double forfeits, while the Raiders forfeited five weights and the Eagles forfeited three.
Brock Shaha started the match at 106 pounds, defeating Ty Tallmon by fall in 59 seconds.
Tegan Hill wrestled at 145 pounds, falling to Erik Allen in 48 seconds.
Bracken Collier wrestled at 160 pounds falling to Fischer Buffington in 31 seconds.
Harlan
Harlan won the duals against Mount Ayr, 48-18.
There were three double forfeits, four forfeits by Mount Ayr and one forfeit by Harlan.
Brock Shaha defeated Jesse Jens by fall in 2:56 at 106 pounds.
Tate Schaefer wrestled at 126 pounds for the Raiders to defeated Shane Noeth by fall in 2:19.
Tegan Hill fell in 1:22 at 145 pounds to Nolan Schwery.
Bracken Collier fell in 1:09 to Reese Koch at 160 pounds.
Allen Jennings fell in 42 seconds to Brett Van Baale at 182 pounds.
Martensdale
St. Marys
The Blue Devils defeated the Raiders 54-6 in dual score.
There were three double feofeits, while the Raiders forfeited four and Martensdale forfeited none.
Brock Shaha defeated Devin Webb by fall at 106 pounds.
Nathan Mederos fell to Elijah Wheeldon at 120 pounds.
Conlee Stark fell to Ben Brenizer at 132 pounds.
Tegan Hill fell to Christian Choate at 138 pounds.
Bracken Collier fell to Johnnie Cassady at 160 pounds.
Allen Jennings fell to Logan Wearmouth at 182 pounds.
Shenandoah
The Raiders fell to Shenandoah in team duals 57-12.
There were two double forfeits and the Raiders forfeited six weights, while Shenandoah was able to fill the rest.
At 160 pounds, Bracken Collier lost by a 9-4 decision against Mark Hardy.
Allen Jennings fell to Jacob Rystrom by fall in 1:03 at 182 pounds.
Brock Shaha wrestled up at 113 pounds, from his usual 106, to defeat Tyler Babe by fall in 1:17.
Davin Holste of Shenandoah defeated Nathan Mederos by fall in 1:02 at 120 pounds.
Conlee Stark earned a win at 132 pounds, defeating Ethan Laughlin by fall in 3:10.
Cole Scamman defeated Mount Ayr’s Tegan Hill by fall in 2:35 at 138 pounds.
Southwest Valley
The Timberwolves defeated the Raiders 66-18 in team duals.
There was only one weight double forfeited, while the Raiders forfeited eight weights.
Southwest Valley forfeited three.
At 160 pounds Bracken Collier fell in 5 minutes to Gavin Wetzel.
Allen Jennings, at 182 pounds fell to Tate Haffner by fall in 1:10.
Nathan Mederos fell to Ashton Boswell by fall in 28 seconds.
