KAY ELLEN STRINGHAM

Kay Ellen Stringham was born January 17, 1947, in Creston, IA and quietly slipped away at home Thursday, January 19, 2023, in Independence, MO at the age of 76 years and two days. She was the daughter of Irene (Meeks) and Frelo Stringham. She grew up in Mount Ayr, IA and attended the school system there.
In 1964 she was united in marriage with Thomas Petersohn and divorced in 1976, in Independence, MO. To this union three children were born. On September 26, 1980, she was united in marriage with Russell Young in Blue Springs, Jackson County, MO and later divorced.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one great grandson, baby Oliver. She is survived by two sons, Robert (Verna) Petersohn of Independence, MO, David (Diane) Petersohn of Liberty, MO, and one daughter Lori (Jamal) Abedrabbo of Grain Valley, MO, 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters, Jan Still of Mount Ayr, and JoAnn (Roger) Nurnberg of Creston, IA, several nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
She will be remembered as a loving sister, aunt, mother, grandmother and a doting “GiGi” (great grandmother). She loved to cook for the family and play dominoes.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to accommodate out-of-state family.
