The Mount Ayr Community School Board met in a special session Monday, March 27.
The meeting was attended by PJ West, Board President, Zachary Lynch, Russell Schiutema, Brandy Shay and Superintendent Jason Shaffer. Director Craig Winemiller was absent.
The meeting was called to order by President PJ West.
Superintendent Shaffer announced the resignation of elementary school principal, Amy Bautista, which would be effective at the end of the school year.
The board unanimously accepted Bautista’s resignation after a motion from director Schiutema and a second from director Lynch.
The meeting was adjourned and the board entered exempt session.
The purpose of the closed session was to discuss matters of strategy related to negotiation with employees, pursuant to Iowa Code Ch. 20.117 and 21.9 which states the meeting is exempt from the requirements of Iowa’s open meeting law.
