The second annual “Road Trip Ringgold” event is gearing up to bring the community together and visitors to the area on June 3, 2023. This one-day event is held annually the first Saturday in June to highlight Ringgold County and all the communities that encompass it.
The event was born out of a partnership between the Mount Ayr Chamber of Commerce, Ringgold County Development, and Ringgold County Tourism last year. The ambitious road trip was designed to combine rummage and yard sales, antique shops and boutiques, direct sales vendors, crafts, and scenic views into one day of exploration around the county.
Nicole McGinnis, the main organizer of Road Trip Ringgold, shared that visitors can expect to find at least 11 yard sales, and over 20 retail locations, vendors, and food trucks across Ringgold County.
Traveling south on Highway 169 from Afton and Arispe, where there are also city-wide garage sales the same day, you can stop at Back Roads Junk in Shannon City, IA. Further south, just off highway 169, homemade items and baked goods can be found in Tingley, Iowa.
The Tingley Community Center is hosting pop-up vendors ET Readers Crafts, Curvin County Designs, and Tingley Methodist Church Crafts. Along Tingley’s Main Street, pop-up vendors Be The Good, McCreary Wood Works, 290 Designs, and Denton Farms Soapery will be welcoming visitors.
You might also enjoy a moment of rest at Tingley Memorial Park.
Stops in the northern part of the county also include The Crib and L&C Big Chill along Highway 169. You can also enjoy a bite to eat from Diamond R Grill food trailer and relax at Liberty Lake north of Mount Ayr.
New to this year’s road trip, the Brick Plex next to Casey’s will be open to showcase fun jewelry at Crystals and Wood.
Businesses around the square will also be open to greet visitors including the new book store “That’s What She Read” next to the Daily Flair Boutique and just down the street from The Clinic Salon & Spa/Skincare From Scratch.
For a unique historical perspective, stop in to the Mount Ayr Depot Museum.
Continuing around the square, shoppers can stop in to Country Blossoms, Aunt Jennies Attic, In the Ayr, and The Mill where you can get a tasty coffee or drink.
Pop up vendors Simply Stitches and Prime Crafts will also be set up on the courthouse lawn in Mount Ayr from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. weather permitting.
Pick up a bite to eat from LT Farm Snacks, Cowboy Papa’s BBQ, or grab a beverage at Boyer’s Bar in Diagonal, Iowa.
A virtual map with the list of participants is available on the Road Trip Ringgold Facebook page or online at www.intheayr.com/road-trip-ringgold.
