The Mount Ayr baseball and softball teams played their final in-season games against Nodaway Valley on June 23, giving them each a full week of preparation for post-season play.
The Raider baseball team was scheduled to play their first post-season matchup against Mormon Trail on Saturday, July 1, however, this game was postponed due to weather and took place on Monday, July 3 in Mount Ayr at 7 p.m.
The Iowa High School Athletic Union creates seedings in each substate bracket that they create, with the Raider baseball team seeded fifth and Mormon Trail being seeded fourth in their bracket (substate 6: district 12).
The Raiders go into the post season with a winning record of 8-7, and the Mormon Trail Saints in the same position, with a winning record of 9-8.
Common opponents amongst the two teams would be Murray, Central Decatur and East Union in which both teams have come out on top of Murray, both teams took a loss to Central Decatur, and Mount Ayr beat East Union where Morman Trail fell to the Eagles by a score of 16-3.
If Mount Ayr comes out on top of the Saints, they will move on to the second round of Distrct play where they would be projected to play the number one seed in their bracket and the ninth ranked team in 1A, Coon Rapids-Bayard, on Wednesday, July 5.
