Sheryl Craft

Sheryl Craft, 90, of Creston, died on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at her home in Creston. Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Burial will be at Hickory Grove Cemetery, south of Mt. Ayr, at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Chuck Spindler will officiate. Open visitation will be Wednesday, August 10 3-7 p.m., with family receiving friends 5-7 p.m.at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Sheryl M. Craft was born September 22, 1932, in Allendale, Missouri to Samuel W. Austin and Lyndall D. (Thompson) Austin. Sheryl attended Mt. Ayr schools where she graduated with the class of 1951.
After graduation, Sheryl began working at Farm Bureau as a secretary and office manager. This is where she met the love of her life, Ross Craft. On May 12, 1957, Sheryl and Ross were united in marriage in Mt. Ayr at the Pleasant Hill Church. From this union came four boys – Roger, Timmy, Jeff, and Paul. With Ross still being in the Army, they lived and worked in Georgia until 1959. Later, she would work at the locker in Shannon City before she and Ross would build their own locker in Mt. Ayr. In 1996, the two would move to Creston. Sheryl then worked for F&M Body Shop before retiring in 1996. Sheryl enjoyed wintering in Texas for 20 years during retirement.
Sheryl was a member of the Crest Baptist Church in Creston, the Cancer Support Ministry, and the Rusted Relics car club.
Survivors include three sons, Roger (wife Teresa) Craft of Creston, Jeff (wife Paxine) Craft of Albuquerque, N.M. and D. Paul (wife Vickie) Craft of Cameron, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Kira (Trent) Preston, Klint (Stacia Bryson), Jamie, Austin, Keaton, Emily and Jack Craft; and five great-grandchildren, Harley and Kyndyn Armijo, Myles and Wyatt Preston, and Josey Boswell; her brother Lowell “Bud” (wife Joy); two sisters-in-law Murie (husband Lloyd) Johnson of Mt. Ayr, Ia. and Jean Countryman of Surprise, Ariz. and many cousins, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ross in 2016 and an infant son Tim Craft.
