God explains everything

To the editor:

The first words of the only book God has written say, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). This one verse is the ultimate starting point for shaping our worldview and our worship.

What we view in the heavens (which in our modern day is quite a bit) has its origin in God. What we view on the earth (although distorted from its original form) is still the product of God’s power. Therefore, if we worship anything in the heavens or the earth we are missing it. It is not the creation that is worthy of our worship but the God of creation.

The last book of the Bible says, “Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created” (Revelation 4:11). If we see the existence of everything as the will of God instead of random chance it begins to help us see that life has a very definite purpose—to glorify the Creator. Life in this world takes on new meaning when God is the explanation for the existence of everything.
