Matthew Wayne Munyon

Matthew Wayne Munyon

Matthew Wayne Munyon really told his story every single day, so when we were having trouble putting it down on paper, we decided to create his “Set List”. There may be some things in here you recognize.
Camel blues, Redwing boots, Lemon meringue pie and lemon cookies, a bachelor, a best friend, stubborn as hell, argumentative, a brother, Iowa State Fair, wet willie’s, licking people, BIG hugs, adventure, the swerve, “his” kiddos, Copper Dog, fireworks and sparkler bombs, peace signs and flip offs, a great big smile, an uncle, race cars, a free spirit, the tomato worm, helpful, raising flags and playing taps, motocross, levitating, the favorite son, a great big presence, real bad tent etiquette, burn outs, cars and motorcycle crashes, “some” jail time, ornery, naughty, loud, the driver, his work brothers, a friend to all, DUDE, concerts, always on the go, generous, a touch feral, Beggin Strips, slimy eggs, a BB gun shot, entertaining, fun, funny, the disappearing act, strong, show me your boobs, only takes his boots off for 2 things, Harley Davidson motorcycles, dark sunglasses, spontaneous, loving, impulsive, unpredictable, dirt road rocks, the gator, random, lots of shenanigans, I LOVE YOUUUUUUU; forever young.
Matthew Wayne Munyon of Kellerton, Iowa was born to Terry and Debbie Munyon on Sunday, June 13, 1982, at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr, Iowa. He was welcomed home by his big sister PJ and he’s been raising hell ever since. Matthew Wayne was always showing up. Even if you didn’t see him, you could count on him and his shenanigans to be popping up somewhere. He had a real good disappearing act, but regardless, when he did show up, even if he was just stopping by for a hug and I love you, you were sure glad he did. I will miss him telling me to call him whenever I got in trouble and for always making me smile, even when I didn’t feel like it. I know he was that person for most of you and he loved you all endlessly.
He was joined on his final ride by his dad, Terry Wayne Munyon, Uncle Jerry Straight, the Letter Jay and great friend, Bradley West. Also preceding him in death are his great grandparents Chet and Norma Munyon, Pat Straight, Chet Waller and Monte Straight.
Matthew is survived by his mom, Debbie Munyon, his favorite sister, PJ West, his nieces Olivia and Sophia West, aunt and uncle Rod and Leeanne Munyon, Dan and Pam Straight, Randie and Dave Ross, Susan and Joe Becker, Dave and Teresa Pearce and Barb Waller. Cousins Heath Straight, Micki and Josh Daniels, Toni Straight, Waylon and Sierra Hill. His extended family and countless friends.
I hope you heard some words or phrases that reminded you of my Uncle Matt and that brought a smile to your face. We will forever remember that ornery smile, his big hugs and the smell of his patchouli. We are glad you all have been able to be on the fun and sometimes wild ride that was Matthew Wayne Munyon.
Peace out. Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr was in charge of the arrangements.
