Jerry Ronald Cooper

Jerry Ronald Cooper
Jerry Ronald Cooper, son of Raleigh L. & Sally (Shephard) Cooper, was born October 27, 1938, at Plant City, Florida. At a young age, the family moved to Williston, Florida where Jerry attended school, graduating from Williston High School in 1957.
On April 3, 1958, Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country until his honorable discharge on March 26, 1962. Jerry was trained in aircraft electronics and was assigned to the USS Forrestal. After his discharge from the U.S. Navy, Jerry used his training to excel in the telephone electronics industry. He was an installer of telephone switches throughout the nation.
In January of 1964, Jerry was united in marriage to Pamela Suzanne Grinnell. To this marriage, two children were born: Amanda and Jason.
Jerry retired from the telephone electronics business when he was 57. Jerry always loved the acreage & rural home setting. In 1997, Jerry & Pam moved to a farm north of Mount Ayr. Jerry would create a rural paradise setting there with a new home, several ponds, a multitude of trees and flowers galore. Jerry aspired to be a good steward of the land. He loved his German Shorthair Pointer dogs, hunting birds, and peonies. He planted and maintained a variety of peonies bushes and tree peonies.
Jerry’s dream was to live out his days on his beloved farm. Through God’s grace, Jerry was able to live at home and passed away with his wife by his side on August 26, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Raleigh and Jerry’s identical twin brother who died at birth.
Survivors include his loving wife, Pam; children Amanda L. Cooper and significant other Bryan Layman of Atlanta, Georgia and Jason Cooper and wife Nancy of Ketchikan, Alaska; two grandchildren Piper from Syracuse, New York and August of Ketchikan, Alaska; brother Ernest Cooper of Williston, Florida; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jerry has been cremated and a private family gathering will be held at the farmhouse. A memorial fund has been established for the Williston High School Football Program.
