The find was reported to Cline Waugh who reported it to J.W. Rice and Mr. Rice notified Postmaster Tedford who in company with assistant Postmaster C.E. Hollopeter drove out and got the sack and brought it to Mount Ayr. Notice of the find was wired by Postmaster Tedford to the officers in charge of the St. Louis division of the postal service.
