Michael Donald Davidson

Michael Donald Davidson was born October 4th, 1977, in Sibley, Iowa to Steve and Linda (Aspnes) Davidson, and was the last baby delivered by Dr. Thomas J. Carroll. He was brought home to big brothers, Scott and Christopher.
He grew up in Sibley, Iowa and graduated from Sibley-Ocheyedan high school with the class of 1996. In his youth he was a star student at Bernie Willadsen’s dance studio. A carryout/stock clerk & produce man at Davidson’s Supervalu. He was a rollerblader extraordinaire often making videos of his fast action stunts of the day pre advent tic-tok (Dad and a JVC camcorder.) He attended college at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa where he met the love of his life, Kayren Watson.
After graduating ISU, he and Kayren were married on November 4, 2000, and moved to Minneapolis where Mike was employed with Enterprise Rent-A-Car. It wasn’t long before Iowa was calling them home and they moved to Des Moines where Mike went to work for Progressive Insurance.
Always obsessed with DIY and home renovations he decided he needed to be in business for himself and started Handyman MD. The additions of Stella Kaye and Porter Michael grew and completed He and Kayren’s family.
As Mike’s business grew it transformed into Rockstar Remodeling. Mike loved contracting, design, engineering and building. Making many satisfied customers and friends along the way.
Unfortunately, Mike had to shutter the business due to health issues after a debilitating stroke and eventual heart transplant.
He passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours of February 18, 2025, at the age of 47. He is survived by his wife Kayren and their children Stella and Porter. His mother Linda, brother Scott (Nora) and their children Grace, Grant and Guy. Brother Chris (Kim) and their son Grayson. In-laws Jay and Donna Watson, Wes and Sara Little and their children Hannah and Haydn, Robert and Anna Williams and children Vada and Isla. Many more aunts, uncles, cousins and friends too many to list here. He was preceded in death by his father Steve Davidson, Paternal and Maternal grandparents. Uncles Mark Watson and Kent Davidson and so many more who went before him.
Mike’s family will be forever grateful to the amazing medical staff at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE for not only saving Mike’s life once, but twice.
Sir Anthony Hopkins once said: “What people say about you is none of your business. You are who you are and do what you do. Expect nothing and accept everything. It will make life easier. We live in a world where funerals are more important than the deceased, marriage is more important than love, looks are more important than the soul. We live in a packaging culture that despises content.”
Mike’s life was defined by content. It is where he thrived, and those stories are worthy of an audience. Unfortunately, this page isn’t nearly enough to tell them all. But I promise you, It’s really good!
Gone too soon but forever remembered.
Visitation was 10-11 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2025, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, West Des Moines, IA. Funeral Mass following. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the family to be decided at a later date.
