MOUNT AYR – The Raiderette volleyball team evened up their overall record at 2-2 after beating non-conference, and former POI member, Bedford 3-0 at home on Tuesday, September 2. The match was the fourth for Mount Ayr in the 2025 season. Mount Ayr won the match by a sweep, 3-0. Bedford fell to 1-2 with the loss.
Mount Ayr won the first set 25-18 to take a 1-0 match lead. The second set went to the Raiderettes as well, 25-22 to give Mount Ayr a 2-0 lead in the match. Mount Ayr completed the sweep with a third set win, 25-15.
Mount Ayr had 90 attacks in the match and had 39 kills. Aubree Shields led in attacks and kills with 43 and 19. Izzy Gilbertson had 18 attacks and nine kills and Emma Reynolds and Jaylee Shaffer each had 10 attacks and three kills. Shaffer had a team high 30 assists in the match. Three Mount Ayr players had double-digit dig totals. Abby Larson led with 13, while Shields and Dannie Stewart each had 12. Mount Ayr served 66-for-73 with six aces in the match. Larson led going 19-for-20 with an ace serve while Reynolds, Shaffer, and Aubree Shields each had 10 or more successful serves in the match.
Bedford had 23 kills on 105 attacks. Joslyn Longfellow and Jordyn Bucher led with seven and six kills. Aniya Hardee had 19 assists and 10 digs. Elise Kreps also had 10 digs. Bedford served 43-for-49 in the match with five aces. Bucher led, going 14-for-14. Bedford will also play POI schools Lenox, East Union, and SW Valley this year.
