Homecoming activities are underway this week, with a full night of activities planned for Thursday, October 2.
The evening starts with a coronation night cookout hosted by the music boosters from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the football field.
The football team will be auctioning off their jerseys beginning around 6:45 p.m.
The coronation of the homecoming queen and king will occur after the jersey auction, along with competitive class contests and special performances by teachers and senior class parents.
This year, Homecoming king candidates include Rowan Sackett, Tate Dugan, Jaxson Greene, Tanner Streit and Jackson Ruggles. Those contending for Homecoming queen include Kaley Murphy, Ava England, Kensie Barnes, Abby Larson and Aubree Shields.
Bennet Greene was elected the prince and Ella Bellman was elected our princess. The queen and king candidates will be chosen Thursday October 2.
The homecoming parade will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 3 with lineup starting at 1 p.m. on the west side of the high school.
Businesses and other community entities are encouraged to join the parade. This year the theme is “Once Upon a Homecoming.”
To enter or inquire about the parade, contact Brandie Ruggles, Student Council Sponsor, at brandie.ruggles@mtayrschools.org or call (641)-464-0512. You can park in the south parking lot if you need to park and walk to your float.
The parade will lead up to a community pep rally on the football field at 2:15 p.m.
The Mount Ayr Raider football team will kickoff their home game against AHSTW at 7 p.m. Recognitions will occur during half time.
Suit up in your red, black, and white-our heroic colors-and bring the spirit, the strength and the style of true raider legends on Friday. Whether you’re rocking a cape, face paint or head-to-toe school spirit, today we rise together to defend our school pride and outshine any villain that dares to challenge us.
The hall of fame banquet will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday October 4 at the Mount Ayr High School.
