Obituary: Alice Sue Key O’Kelley

Alice Sue Key O’Kelley, born May 19, 1945, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025. She lived a life filled with love, kindness, and devotion to God, family, and friends. Alice will be remembered for her warm heart, generous spirit, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her.
Alice loved being outdoors, embracing the beauty of nature and the simple pleasures of fresh air and sunshine. She especially loved hummingbirds and always kept feeders out to welcome them, finding joy in their delicate beauty and lively presence. Music was a constant companion in her life, and she knew every hymn by heart. Her faith in God was strong and guided her throughout her life, bringing her peace and purpose. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She created countless cherished memories through laughter, stories, and moments of togetherness.
Alice is survived by her children: Teri Alexander, Chad O’Kelley, Heather and Ron McNichols, and Shon and Denae O’Kelley; her grandchildren: Lexie O’Kelley, Zeke O’Kelley, Max McNichols, Nash McNichols, Shae O’Kelley, Maci O’Kelley, and Roe O’Kelley; her great grandchildren Thalia O’Kelley and Ravi O’Kelley; and her sister, Peg Strange. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Allen “Bill” Key, and her sister, Mary Moore. Her family will forever hold dear the love and warmth she shared so freely.
In accordance with Alice’s wishes, there will be no funeral or formal services. She requested that no one fuss over her, and her family honors that request with love and respect. Those who wish to remember Alice may do so in their own special way—perhaps by spending time outdoors, listening to music, singing a hymn, or watching hummingbirds at a feeder, just as she loved to do.
You taught us well. We will miss you for the rest of our lives.
Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr was in charge of the arrangements.
