MOUNT AYR, Iowa — A close game early turned into a rout as the Raiders defeated Wayne 68-47 on Friday night in Mount Ayr.
The game was back-and-forth early as the two teams were tied 15-15 at the end of the first quarter. Mount Ayr would find the scoring touch in the second quarter as they went on a 24-9 run heading into intermission. Although they could not keep up the scorching scoring pace coming out of halftime, the Raiders certainly didn’t let up by more than doubling up Wayne in the third quarter and coasted to the 21-point victory.
Tate Dugan led Mount Ayr with 21 points as the senior nearly had a double-double as he had a team-high nine rebounds and two steals.
Senior Jackson Ruggles had 20 points while shooting 50 percent. Junior Hayes Stogdill added eight points and five assists.
Sophomore Evan Ruggles had six rebounds, three blocks and a steal. Adler Reed had seven assists and fellow junior Drew Graham had four rebounds and a block.

The Raiders dropped a matchup of two the area’s best teams falling to Southwest Valley 66-39 last Tuesday in Corning.
The Timberwolves jumped to an early 22-7 first quarter lead and never looked back on the way to a 27-point victory.
Junior Adler Reed led Mount Ayr with nine points, while senior Tate Dugan scored seven points and four rebounds. Junior Hayes Stogdill added six points while Reed also had four assists.
Senior Jackson Ruggles pulled down eight rebounds and handed out three assists, while junior Drew Graham grabbed seven.
The Raiders hosted Lenox on Tuesday night (results were not available as of press time) and will play at Southeast Warren in Liberty Center.
