CRESTON, Iowa — The postseason all-star basketball circuit will include a few Mount Ayr coaches and players for both programs. The annual Senior All-Star games held in Creston will be on Sunday, March 29 at the Southwestern Community College Student Center. The girl-boy doubleheader will be 4 p.m. for the girl’s game and 6 p.m. for the boys game.
On the girl’s side, Team Red will be coached by Mount Ayr head coach Thad Streit. Top players on Team Red are Kadley Bailey from Creston and Hailey Randall from Southwest Valley. Nodaway Valley head girl’s basketball coach Brian Eisbach will be the coach of Team Blue and have a couple of familiar faces in NV seniors Izzy Eisbach and Emma Boswell on the team. Also on Team Blue will be Mount Ayr junior teammates Izzy Gilbertson and Dannie Stewart. Current coaches cannot coach their non-senior players in games like this, thus Streit coaching Team Red.
On the boy’s side, Team Red will be coached by Bret Ruggles from Mount Ayr. Ruggles will have his point guard, Jackson Ruggles on his team. Team Blue coached by Bryce Schafer from Creston where Central Decatur’s Blake Boyd and Paxon Applegate will be on the team.
