MOUNT AYR, Iowa — The Mount Ayr boy’s basketball team had three players named to this year’s all-conference list put out annually by the Pride of Iowa Conference. Jackson Ruggles, Tate Dugan and Hayes Stogdill were the Raiders who were selected.
Southwest Valley and Mount Ayr tied for the 2025-26 boys title this year with identical records of 14-2. Two other teams each had 10 or more POI wins as third place Martensdale-St. Marys was 12-4 and fourth place SE Warren was 11-5. Central Decatur almost made it five teams with 10 or more POI wins, finishing the conference schedule 9-7. Overall, the Raiders were 18-6.
Ruggles was one of four unanimous selections to the first team all-conference list. The others were Colton Wight from Martensdale-St. Marys, Jamison Ewing from SE Warren and Cael Hogan from Southwest Valley. Ruggles led Mount Ayr with a scoring average of 21.6 points. He had a rebound average of 4.8 per game to go with 2.8 assists and 2.2 steals a game. He shot nearly80-percent from the free throw line and made 61 three pointers.
Dugan was one of the top rebounders in the POI this year and was named to the second team. Dugan averaged 7.2 rebounds and 10.4 points a game this year. He shot 52 percent from the field for all shots this year. Stogdill was an honorable mention pick. The junior averaged 8.5 points, a team high 3.5 assists, 1.6 steals and 3.2 rebounds per game. Stogdill was second on the Raiders with 34 made three pointers.
