EARLHAM, Iowa — The Mount Ayr track and field team made the trip to Earlham for its first outdoor meet of the season on March 31.
The Raiders were led by their relay events, with five relay teams earning top-5 finishes. There were no team scores kept for the meet.
The high finishes came from a runner-up in the 4×200 meter, third place finishes by the shuttle hurdle and 4×400, a fourth place finish by the 4×100-meter relay and a fifth place finish by the 4×800-meter relay.
The 4X200-meter relay team of Drayden Thompson, Jackson Ruggles, Manny Hyde and Tate Dugan were runners-up in a time of 1:35.57. Mount Ayr’s shuttle hurdle relay team of Hyde, Calvin Main, Dugan and Ruggles placed third in a time of 1:07.80. The 4×400-meter relay team of Bryson Martin, Hyde, Michael Adkisson and Ruggles placed third in a time of 3:53.71.
Mount Ayr also placed fourth in the 4×100-meter relay in a time of 45.91 and placed fifth in the 4×800-meter relay in a time of 9:26.40.
In field events, the Raiders had a pair of top-10 finishers in the discus. Jesse Shelman was seventh with a best throw of 117-feet, 3 inches and Kellon Shaffer was ninth with a best throw of 115-feet, 10 inches.
The top individual finishers for Mount Ayr were Main finishing fifth in the 110-meter hurdles in 17.25, Adkisson 7th in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:05.13 and Braylon Greenwell 8th in the 800-meter run in 2:22.46.
Mount Ayr will run twice this week with a meet at Panorama on April 7 and another meet at Clarinda on Thursday, April 9.
