MOUNT AYR, Iowa — Disability Rights Iowa has announced they received their second $25,000 Capacity Building Grant from the Principal Foundation in just two years. DRI is part of a national group of agencies created to address repeated abuse and neglect of people with disabilities. As a non-profit agency, they are funded through grants, donations and corporate funding. DRI has expressed immense gratitude to the foundation for their continued support.
Over the course of the next year, The Capacity Building Grant will provide DRI with additional resources to continue expanding the agency’s abilities to provide disability rights advocacy and resources to all Iowans with disabilities. Federal funding is used to protect and advocate for the rights of people with disabilities. DRI advocates for the rights of Iowans with disabilities regardless of where they live.
Previously, the grant was used to provide advocacy skills training to staff. This year, they want to sustain that by using the grant to continue growing its advocacy and resources for all Iowans with disabilities.
