MOUNT AYR, Iowa — The Mount Ayr Kids Library Club met with Librarian Mary Kathryn Gepner and Rick Bender representing the “Community Breakfast” chefs last Tuesday to present a generous donation to the library. The kids volunteered to help out with the Sunday, July 5 breakfast at the American Legion.
They served coffee, greeted people, flipped pancakes and made waffles with ear-to-ear smiles and giggles.
“We even made tips,” club member Jovie Jerome said with the rest of the kids nodding their heads in affirmation, it really did happen!”

The “Community Breakfast” chefs meet the first Sunday of each month to cook breakfast feasts with assigned groups of children at the Mount Ayr American Legion. The kids/club that help out at the breakfast earn the profits from the morning’s servings. If you know a group or club looking to volunteer their time contact Kelly Main at 641 414-0001.
