Who doesn’t like a good road trip?
And who doesn’t like a good shopping trip?
So what could be better than combining the two into “Road Trip Ringgold,” a new day-long event planned as a partnership between the Mount Ayr Chamber of Commerce and Ringgold County Economic Development.
Scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, Road Trip Ringgold will feature shopping not only in various retail establishments but also merchandise from home-based businesses along with individual garage/yard sales from all around Ringgold County.
“What we’re wanting to do is showcase the entire county, all the communities that make up the county, and all the fun places that there are to shop and explore within the county, along with being able to travel the backroads and see some of the beautiful countryside,” said Nicole McGinnis, one of the event organizers.
Home-based businesses that do not have a brick-and-mortar location may be located in participating retail locations, or the plan is to have a central location in each town where these “pop-up vendors” can reserve space to present their merchandise.
Retail businesses and pop-up vendors must register by May 6 to have their locations highlighted as a numbered stop on the Road Trip Ringgold map and website.
Registration is $25 for retail stores and $15 for pop-up vendors. Garage and yard sales are free to register and be placed on the map. Registration fees will go toward event promotions, advertising, and giveaways.
Road Trip Ringgold will be held rain or shine, and organizers hope to make it an annual event.
Road Trip Ringgold County will be accepting sponsorships from restaurants, hotels and other specialty businesses in the area. Sponsors will have features on both the Facebook event and Facebook page as well as in the event description with their link if applicable. They will have their names listed under the map as well.
Sponsors have no obligation to be open during the entire duration of the event. It is a great way to get the business name out there but still keep normal business hours. Sponsorships are $50.
Similarly, garage/yard sales need not be open during the entire hours of the event.
Vendor information and event updates will appear on the Road Trip Ringgold tab on the intheayr.com website.
