The Raiderette softball team has been preparing for the regional tournament for a week straight with their first match-up right around the corner, where they will play Grand View Christian at the North Des Moines Girls Softball Complex at 7 p.m on Wednesday July 5.
The Raiderettes go into the post-season with a record of 11-12 and the Thunder with a record of 14-6.
Common opponents for the two teams would be Lenox, Central Decatur and Nodaway Valley where both Mount Ayr and Grand View Christian were able to come out on top of each of those teams.
Mount Ayr has a season batting average of .241, and a fielding percentage of .884, putting them at a slight disadvantage to Grand View Christian who has a batting average of .351 and a fielding percentage of .927.
Despite the difference in these teams, the Raiderettes go into this matchup with the hopes that they will find themselves in a regional semifinal in what they anticipate to be against Interstate-35 for what would be the third straight year.
If the Raiderettes pull off a win Wednesday night, they will play at Interstate-35 High School on July 7 against the winner of the 5th ranked in 1A Interstate-35 Roadrunners, and the Pleasantville Trojans, who beat Central Decatur to advance to the regional quarterfinal against the Roadrunners.
