Asa Hutchinson, former governor of Arkansas, brought his presidential campaign to Mount Ayr last week.
Former Arkansas governor Asa Hutchinson brought his long-shot campaign for the Republican presidential nomination to Mount Ayr last Thursday, saying Donald Trump can’t beat Joe Biden and the Republicans should select a new candidate.
Hutchinson is polling near the bottom of announced Republican candidates but said he is connecting well with the Iowans he’s meeting. “People in Ringgold County are telling me they have the same concerns as everyone else,” said Hutchinson. Biden’s inflations will only keep make things worse. People are working too hard just to make ends meet.”
In order to battle high inflation, Hutchinson said he would work hard to make the private sector grow more than the public sector. “We must move toward a balanced budget,” he said.
He said he’s also hearing in Ringgold County about getting the farm bill done. He said with new house leadership in place in the House of Representatives that should move fairly quickly.
