The Mount Ayr wrestling team traveled to Albany, Missouri last week for a quadrangular dual meet. There, the Raiders won two of their three duals in a successful night of wrestling.
The Raiders beat Albany, Missouri 48-24 and North Andrew 48-12. The lone loss was to South Harrison, 60-18. The Raiders were the only school at the event from the state of Iowa.
This week is a big one for Mount Ayr. The Raiders were to host SE Warren/Melcher-Dallas on Tuesday before hosting the Ron Scott Dual Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
Against Albany, Missouri, Mount Ayr won eight matches in their dual win. Winning matches by forfeit were Brock Shaha at 120, Nathan Mederos at 126, Tegan Hill at 150, Jonathan Morales at 285, and Jeremiah Gilliland at 106. Three Raiders picked up pins over their opponents. Winning by fall were Ty Noble at 144, Conlee Stark at 157, and Bracken Collier at 165. Two weight classes were open. They were at 138 and 113.
Against North Andrew, Mount Ayr won eight matches. There were four weight classes open in the dual at 113, 120, 175, and 190. Mount Ayr got forfeit wins from Nathan Mederos at 132, Tate Schaefer at 138, Ty Noble at 144, Tegan Hill at 150, Bracken Collier at 165, and Jeremiah Gilliland at 106. Two Raiders won by fall. They were Brock Shaha at 126, and Conlee Stark at 157 each picked up pins. Mount Ayr led 42-0 before North Andrew scored points.
Mount Ayr won three matches against South Harrison. Brock Shaha pinned Dawson Pelletier at 120, Ty Noble pinned Mason Galloway at 144, and Bracken Collier won by forfeit at 165.
