Three Raiders are named All-Conference selections

The Pride of Iowa Conference recently released their all-conference list for the 2023-24 season. On that list are three Mount Ayr players.
Selected were senior Ryce Reynolds, sophomore Jackson Ruggles, and junior Tyler Martin. Ruggles was one of four unanimous first-team selections, Martin was a second-team pick and Reynolds was an honorable mention pick.
Bedford won the POI this year with a 13-0 record and Mount Ayr was second with a 10-3 record.
The rest of the POI was pretty evenly balanced. SE Warren was third with a 9-4 record with four other teams – Central Decatur, Lenox, Wayne, and SW Valley – all within three games of third place.
There were four unanimous All-POI selections on the six-team first team. Unanimous selections were Rayce Snyder from Wayne, Gabe Funk from Lenox, Jackson Ruggles from Mount Ayr, and Cam Seuferer from SE Warren. Synder averaged 23.5 points a game, Funk 22.4, Ruggles 18.8, and Seuferer 16.0 points per game. Also on the first team were Cal Peterman (15.7 ppg) and Sam Boothe from Central Decatur. Boothe averaged 14.8 points in POI games with 5.2 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 2.9 steals. Ruggles also averaged 4.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.8 steals per POI game.
Two second-team selections were unanimous selections. They were POI leading scorer Dawson Nelson from Nodaway Valley who led scorers in POI games with a 24.3-point average, and Central Decatur’s Nash Dykes. Dykes averaged 13.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.6 steals, and 1.6 assists per POI game. Mount Ayr’s Tyler Martin was a second-team pick. Martin averaged 12.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.4 steals per POI game this year.
The third Mount Ayr player honored was senior Ryce Reynolds as an honorable mention pick. Reynolds averaged 6.2 points and 4.3 rebounds in POI games this year.
The Raiders averaged 56.6 points per POI game this year. The Raiders also averaged 30.4 rebounds, 11.7 assists, and 10 steals per game.
The Raiders will return four of their five starters who started in their district loss to SW Valley. Back will be seniors-to-be Trevin Victor, Jaize Frost, and Tyler Martin, and junior-to-be Tate Dugan from the team that was 14-6 overall this year.
