The Mount Ayr girl’s track team opened a two-meet week by placing third at the Creston Panther Track Invitational on Monday, April 8.
There, the Raiderettes scored 82 points at the meet, a season-high so far.
At the meet, Mount Ayr athletes had 19 season best performances among the events.
Atlantic won the meet with a team score of 150 points while Clarke was the runner-up with 110 points. Those two teams were the only two to top the 100-point mark.
The Raiderettes were third and SW Valley fourth with 80 points.
Aubree Shields won the high jump at the meet with the top jump of 5-feet, 0 inches. It was the only winning event at the meet for Mount Ayr.
The Raiderettes collected three runner-up finishes, all with season best performances. Anne Newton was second in the 800-meter run in 2:41.24 and Addison Doolittle was second in the 3,000-meter run in 13:35.64.
The other runner-up finish for Mount Ayr came from its 4X800-meter relay team. The team of Anne Newton, Aubree Clark, Tatum Friedrich, Ashlyn Murphy finished in a time of 11:08.08.
In field events, Adley Dredge and Hayden Ruggles placed fourth in the shot put and discus events with the new season’s best throws. Dredge at 29-08 and Ruggles at 87-04. Dredge also placed seventh in the discus and Ruggles eighth in the shot put. MaKel Jones, Dannie Stewart, Kate James, and Jalyn Akers all had top-10 finishes in a field event.
In individual events, Ashlynn Byer placed third in the 3,000-meter run in 14.44 and fifth in the 1,500-meter run in 6:30.19. Ashlyn Murphy and Addison Doolittle each placed fourth in the 400-meter dash and 800-meter run events. Both set a new season’s best times. Others who set a new season’s best times in an individual event were Anna Greenland, Abby Eaton, Tatum Friedrich, Dannie Stewart, and MaKel Jones.
Mount Ayr had a pair of third-place finishes in relay events. They came from the 4X400-meter and distance medley relay events. The Raiderettes 4X400-meter relay team of Anne Newton, Tatum Friedrich, Aubree Clark, and Aubree Shields placed third in 4:34.49. The Raiderettes distance medley relay team of Abby Eaton, Kaley Murphy, Kyleigh Conklin, and Keely Wasteney placed third in 5:24.76.
The Raiderettes set a new season-best times in three other relay events. They were the shuttle hurdle relay, the sprint medley relay, and the 4X100-meter relay.
