A week before the Drake Relays, the Mount Ayr boy’s track team had a pair of meets last week.
The Raiders traveled to West Central Valley last Thursday for the second of two meets. There, the Raiders would place seventh with 46 points. AC/GC won the meet with a team score of 114 points. Panorama was second with 75 points and the host Wildcats were third with 59 points.
The Raiders collected a few season-best times at the meet.

Late in the week, the Raiders were informed that four events qualified for the 2024 Drake Relays. Senior Ryce Reynolds qualified in three individual events. Reynolds qualified in the 400-meter dash, the 800-meter run, and 400-meter hurdle events. The Raiders also qualified for the relays in the 4×100-meter relay event. The Drake Relays are this week at Drake Stadium through Saturday.

The Raiders set two new season-best times in relay events at the meet. The Raiders won the sprint medley relay in a time of 1:38.47 with the team of Ryce Reynolds, Preston Fleharty, Jackson Ruggles, and Garrett Walter.

The Raiders also set a season-best time in the shuttle hurdle relay where they were runners-up with the team of Dalton Barnes, Evan Weehler, Adan Trujillo, and Brayden Hale in a time of 1:09.88.
The Raiders collected a pair of top-5 relay finishes with a fourth-place finish in the 4X800-meter relay and a fifth-place finish in the distance medley relay.
In individual events, Ryce Reynolds cruised to a win in the 400-meter dash in 50.97.
Tegan Hill collected a pair of top-5 finishes while setting a new season’s best times. Hill placed fourth in the 400-meter dash in 57.85 and added a fifth-place finish in the 1,600-meter run in 5:27.50.

Dalton Barnes added a fourth-place finish in the 110-meter high hurdles in 17.47. Rowan Sackett, Jerry Gilliland, Trace Knapp, and Braylon Greenwell all had season-best times in individual events.
In field events, Colton Dredge led with a fifth-place finish in the discus with a best throw of 120-feet, 1-inch. Tucker Knox and Rowan Sackett both placed in the top-10 in the shot put with seventh and eighth-place finishes, and Trevin Victor captured the season-best jump in the long jump.
