Mount Ayr was led by a runner-up finish by Jackson Ruggles at the Dave Tapps Invitational in Van Meter last Thursday.
Ruggles was the runner-up in the 400-meter dash in a time of 51.70 to lead Mount Ayr finishers.
The Raiders placed eighth as a team out of 11 scoring teams with 35 points.
Madrid won the meet with a team score of 180 points while Earlham was the runner-up with a team score of 124 points. They were the only two teams to top the 100-point mark. POI foes Central Decatur and Martensdale-St. Mary’s also were at the meet.
The Raiders got third-place finishes from Dalton Barnes and Colton Dredge in field events. Barnes was third in the shot put with a throw of 43-feet, 8 inches. Dredge was third in the discus with a throw of 131-feet, 0.5 inches. Adan Trujillo placed fourth in the 800-meter run while Barnes was ninth in the 110-meter high hurdles in 18.34.
Mount Ayr’s top relay finish was a fifth-place finish by their distance medley relay team. The team of Michael Adkisson, Brock Shaha, Aidan Murphy, and Braylon Greenwell ran to a finish of 4:23.04.
