The Mount Ayr Raiders captured the 2024 Pride of Iowa Conference meet last week at home scoring a team-high 127 points to win the meet.
The Raiders had five event wins and two runner-up finishes at the meet. Lenox was the runner-up with 119 points and Bedford and Wayne tied for third place with 78 points.
The Raiders won five events at the meet.
Senior Ryce Reynolds won two individual events, and anchored two winning relay events. Reynolds won the 400-meter hurdles in 54.22 and won the 400-meter dash in a time of 49.88.
The Raiders would win three relay events at the meet.
The Raiders sprint medley relay team of Brayden Hale, Evan Weehler, Garrett Walter, and Ryce Reynolds won the event in a time of 1:37.36. The Raiders 4×400-meter relay team of Adan Trujillo, Michael Adkisson, Tegan Hill, and Ryce Reynolds won the event in a time of 3:35.92. The last relay win for Mount Ayr was the distance medley relay event. The team of Dalton Barnes, Trevin Victor, Tegan Hill, and Adan Trujillo won the event in a time of 3:54.47.
The Raiders placed third in the 4×200 and fourth in the 4×100-meter relay.
The Raiders turned in a season-best time in the shuttle hurdle relay event with the team of Dalton Barnes, Evan Weehler, Adan Trujillo, and Brayden Hale placing fifth in a time of 1:09.84.
In individual events, the Raiders had a runner-up finish from Adan Trujillo in the 800-meter run in 2:07.75 and a runner-up finish from Jackson Ruggles in the 400-meter dash in 52.12.
Dalton Barnes had a third-place finish in the 110-meter high hurdles with a season-best time of 16.93.
Preston Fleharty had two top-5 finishes. Fleharty was third in the 100-meter dash in 11.87 and placed fourth in the 200-meter dash in a season-best time of 23.62.
Raiders who got season best times in an individual event were Jackson Ruggles in the 100-meter dash, Teagan Hill and Braylon Greenwell in the 1,600-meter run, and Jeremiah Gilliland in the 3,200-meter run.
